Leighton's first fish was a small Bream caught at 4 years old in an estuary in Anglesea, Victoria. His first trout came as a 6lb surprise at the age of 8 in the Lake Eildon tailrace.
Part of the 'River Somewhere' generation, Leighton came to fly fishing later in life, and once on fly never looked back. Fishing the high country streams of Victoria and New South Wales regularly. More recently the delights of saltwater fly have found its way into his veins along with native freshwater species.
