April Vokey

April Vokey is a dedicated fly fisher, outdoorswoman, casting instructor, membership coordinator, mother, world traveler, DIY enthusiast, and unapologetic master of humor. Her journey through the world of fly fishing is marked by deep passion, tireless dedication, and strong advocacy for the sport she loves.

From an early age, April demonstrated an unshakable connection to nature and the outdoors. Even as a toddler, she meticulously organized her tackle box, fully immersed in the angling world. By the age of 16, she was chasing salmon and steelhead along the rivers of British Columbia, armed with a baitcaster and a newly earned driver’s license. For her, fishing was never just about catching fish—it was a path to self-discovery and a much-needed escape from urban life.

In her late teens, April found her calling in fly fishing. Determined to make it her life’s work, she began guiding for sturgeon and salmon with a local outfitter. At 24, she took a bold step and founded Fly Gal Ventures in 2007, creating a space to share her expertise and passion with others as a professional guide.

Since then, her career has taken her across the globe in pursuit of fish, adventure, and connection with the natural world. Whether she's teaching a cast, exploring new waters, or supporting the fly fishing community, April continues to inspire through her skill, spirit, and boundless enthusiasm for the outdoors.
