TJF Pheasant Tail Hotspot Nymph

The Hot Spot Pheasant Tail Nymph is one of Tom Jarman’s most reliable river nymphs. It is a very subtle pattern with a copper bead and a small orange collar to separate itself from the naturals in the river. A pheasant tail is always a great starting point when arriving at a river as it can represent mayfly and many other small macroinvertebrates in the water. Tom uses this fly when euro nymphing, fishing nymph below dry or beneath an indicator.

More fly information...

This Hot Spot Pheasant Tail is tied on a barbless dry fly hook. This helps give the fly a slim profile which helps the fly’s sink rate. The fine point and gauge also improve penetration on hook sets. With two sizes of tungsten beads, you can adjust your weight to suit the depth and pace of the water you are fishing. We recommend fishing 5x, 6x or 7x tippet to help the nymph sink to depth quickly and to improve the quality of the drift.
