Warnesy created: Flylife Forum Gathering 2018

Well it will be on again, and this time i'm organising...

On 9-12 March 2018 a group of FlyLife flyfishers will invade the alpine town of Thredbo, NSW.

I have been able to secure Candlelight Lodge in Thredbo Village as the accommodation for this years gathering. It looks fit for purpose, being able to contain the entire gathering in one location. I've pushed pretty hard on price and it will be $50 per person per night. Candlelight lodge has agreed to extend this price for those who want to stay earlier or leave later as well. As it gets closer to the date you can let me know your intended plans and I can arrange. I'll be seeking a $50 pp deposit in December (non-refundable) and full payment late January / early February to provide some comfort and certainty to our accommodation provider.

Right now I am after expressions of interest. This should be another great gathering. Already we have locked in Boris to provide the bread, Stephen to organise the fudge (i'm not sure if that is for me or the whole group...) and Mitch to do the shirts.

The fishing in the Snowy Mountains has been sensational the last two years. The lodge is at most 5 minutes walk to the river, so you can fish right by the lodge, fish the Thredbo in a number of spots within 10 minutes, fish heaps of great streams within an hour, and within 2 hours is pretty much the whole damn park.

So i'll start the list, I hope to see as many of you there as possible. It would be great to have plenty of new people to go along with the regulars who just can't miss a gathering. It looks like we can fit 40+ in the lodge, so numbers shouldn't be an issue.

Was fishing in the KNP this year, while the Tasmanian gathering was on - a simply magnificent locale.
Already I am 'torn', as this is highly likely to clash with another event (a golf event) which regularly fills my diary at that time of the year.
Given 'final' commitment is not required until December, for now, please accept this as my 'Expression of Interest' and add me to the list.
What a lovely looking place - The Schnapps bar looks dangerous!

Cheers,
Mitta

The older I become, the better I used to be.
I recently started on the Gin & Tonic diet - so far, I have lost two three four days a full week. :-(

Hi Andrew, you can add Boris,Ray and asme to the list. I'll remind Boris about the bread, Ray no doubt will bring some grappa and I'll bring some scotch.

I guess I'll show up. but I suppose I'll have to go to every one after that as well.
my missus hates you lot.

Yep, well done Andrew. Brave soul.
I can see that place getting destroyed. Would hate to miss seeing it all happen.
My hand is up and waving.

There is of course a place for smoking, was one of the first things I checked. Just outside a common room which has a lovely couch for DC.

Thanks for posting the video Mitta, I was pretty impressed by the layout and the manager/owner seems very happy to accommodate what we want.
