Fantastic movie, must have watched it a dozen times over the years... the good part is it appeals to women as much as blokes!... Nothing to do with Brad Pitt though eh?...

Wonderful movie but better book - McLean writes in a beautiful, simple way. I have always had Missoula, Montana and the Blackfoot River on my bucket list so visited there the Fall of 2016. What a wondrous place with the leaves turning to gold and me catching a fish on my first cast on a Tassie hopper pattern (a Hackett WMD). Going back in 2019. My only disappointment was to learn that the filming was done elsewhere!

I always thought the novel is a thin veiled study/report of manic depression.

It's a beautiful film on many levels and elevates fly fishing to it's rightful place as a Zen practice...

I bought the DVD years ago for my dad, knowing he would love it. I finally sat down and watched it last year after he passed away. That simple, profound quote, "I am haunted by waters", describes my dad so perfectly, epitomises the crazy gypsy lifestyle he dragged my mother and I around the world for, and always brings a tear to the eye.
