Apropos my comment above re not wanting to remove the fly I had on for fear of 'breaking the spell', this is the fly with which I was having so much success.

As I said, "pilfered" from elsewhere. Precisely, I have to say, from the current edition of FlyLife Magazine #89.

Peter Watson's Perdigon Nymph.

What a sensational fly I found it to be. I'm just luvin' this caper.

Here's a pic.

The older I become, the better I used to be.
I recently started on the Gin & Tonic diet - so far, I have lost two days.

OK... I'm impressed. With the snow coming down to 200 mts tonight I reckon some of those heavy bombs might be required for a few weeks on our rivers. Good to hear of your success and enthusiasm for something new. Very good actually.
About 12 hrs after my last post I flicked open a random book to a random page and found myself looking at that first fly of yours. About then that feeling of quiet personal disappointment in a shallow education preceding a big mouth kicked in. Still a damn good tie though Mitta. I am going to my desk to tie some dumbbells onto some spey flies( hint to others ) in preparation for some river action.
Nice start to the season for you, well done. Cheers....Jimmy

puntip: tie your flies normally and invest heavily in tungsten putty.

shame one can't warm it in one's mouth.

not all forums consist of 'which 5wt?' and 'what can I have for $200?' but they're very hard to find.

fly fishing for dummies.

Tungsten putty????????? Just when Jimmy explained what to do with the dumbbells sitting in my materials shambles, yet another "must-have" leaps into consideration! Ah well, back to Essential Flyfisher lolly shop!

You poor 'bar steward'; I know exactly from where it is you come.
