flylifeModeratorThey are never too young to learn that rivers sustain diverse and abundant life. The boys already recognise damselfly nymphs, shrimps, stick caddis, snails and amphipods, and can’t wait to go down to the river.

BarryJParticipantGreat! 🤔 It won’t be long before they will be able to assess the health of your strip of river based on what they find. 👍🏻

micmac3701ParticipantCatchment Management Authorities (CMA’s) run a great schools program over here on the big island. It’s called River Detectives and its sort of a junior “WaterWatch” with kids learning about water quality and management through adopting a test site and conducting regular test sampling, including bug counts.

flylifeModeratorSounds like a great program. Might be worth a story sometime.

micmac3701ParticipantI’ll talk to some people in NECMA and I’m fairly certain that they will be more than happy to put some material together.
