RabbitParticipantTumbleweeds…………….
mitch aka 2 fishParticipantI don’t think anyone from wad1 fly fishes any longer. I’m happy to go mebbe four times a year nowadays.
and why? it started as restrictions but it’s also access, availability, weather and water. it’s mainly water.
trying to basically scrape together a fishing trip is becoming pointless. it’s why everything bar the rods has been for sale.
time spent vs. time wasted, I guess.
oh, and did I forget to mention the guilt?
cheers,
the working dad
disclaimer: ymmv.
RabbitParticipantWhen are you moving East then Mitch? Its been a reasonable season this year so far (for WA).
RabbitParticipantMerry Christmas to anyone out there that reads this!
ChiefParticipantMerry Christmas to anyone out there that reads this!
Alway read WAD posts – Merry Christmas Stan and all 😀
flylifeModeratorHo ho ho. Our 2019 Exmouth, Fremantle and Margaret River trip still burns brightly in my mind. Those were the days.
Stephen HillParticipantAll the best Stan, Mitch and others.
RabbitParticipantThanks Chief, Flylife and Stephen. Good to see we are not alone!
Happy new year to you all.
Where have all the WADs gone?
Rush006ParticipantWe are still around. Everyone is busy with work life, kids and family. Caught my first trout in a while over the Christmas break. Fly fishing with my 12 year old son. What a special time it was. Happy new year to everyone.
Im surprised there isn’t tumble weeds rolling across the page. Ha Ha
hagarParticipantThought you all had preempted your fearless leader (that bloke from Newcastle, NSW) and done a private secession from the rest of Oz…..

Ya we should have! Lol What lock downs???? Only then we would need passports to visit the East!
Happy New Year guys!
Still here, just letting the trout rest over the summer period. Saying that had a moderately good day on Friday on the only tailrace worth fishing in summer here, great to see the recent years stocking of browns in that system doing well.
Two WADs had a great week in Victoria before Christmas. Highly recommend Kiel at Millbrook as a guide hard working and put us onto some nice fish, in atrocious cold, wet, windy conditions including a new species for us Tiger trout.
The log cabin is looking great and is very comfortable. We were looked after very well. Lunches are very nicely catered to and delicious . Kudos to the Weigalls also.
Also i can highly recommend Lachie at Goulburn Valley Fly fishing Centre also a great patient guide. Two days drifting with him on the Goulburn produced the goods….browns and rainbows.
Now where to next?
mitch aka 2 fishParticipantso apparently the last time we went fishing was 22 may. caught some dinks and a fair sized brown in the lefroy…
since then (I’ll say) “someone” has either misplaced or thrown away three pairs of wading boots… including my patagucci rock climbers.
I guess all my fishing gear in one spot was too much for her. so now some in the closet, the garage and the wardrobe. some probably in the bin.
I swear, I’d sooner throw everything in the bin than pay for replacements. fml.
RabbitParticipantHello?
mitch aka 2 fishParticipantbought replacement rock climbers. and they’re as dry as my old bones…
we’re thinking mid august for our next pembo soiree. is it still open?
RabbitParticipantPemby is open for business. The sportsmans club is the place to be seen they do a great meal also. The fishing???????????
Good to hear from you Mitch. Heard how the river levels are down there ATM?
