What is happening in Tasmania?
Not only you get lobster at bargain price, now 52 000 4kg salmon escaped from fish farm.

JohnrsParticipantNot sure Gumwah
But I think the plan was to establish a flyin/flyout private salmon fishery at Lake Malbena in the World Heritage Area.
This cunning and illegal plan has been foiled with the release of the salmon by brave members of the TSLF (the Tasmanian Salmon Liberation Front)
Best Christmas wishes

flylifeModeratorThe commercial tv news tonight had people on jetties catching escaped Australian salmon! HaHa. At least the ABC had Atlantic salmon footage even if they were all in gill nets. Yes we still do that in Tasmania!

BarryJParticipantYeah, the Australian salmon was a bit hilarious; to add insult to injury, they were talking about catching 4kg Atlantic salmon and the Aussie salmon being held up would probably have only been 0.5- 0.75kg! 🤣
Didn’t see anyone fly fishing on either channel that I watched.
Edit: an environmentalist also complained about the effect the escapees would have on the native fish population if they started breeding. Highly unlikely since they are all females (to prevent breeding in the event of escapes as I understand it).
