Well, I have booked the river again for 2023 Opening Weekend and I am happy to share the Little Styx Camping ground with the luxury of a long drop toilet with a few of my mates. Traditionally, it has been a mini Gathering with a variety of old buggers and young turning up to catch trout on the opening. Plenty of room at the camp ground and it is free camping but be warned ,it rained every night and was very cold. So, be prepared with a waterproof tent and sturdy enough for Ebor weather and wind.

Apart from that excellent fishing with plenty of water in the creeks and hungry trout for the dry fly. Cane rods and beautiful reels not a necessity but welcome!

Bad luck for those Victorian mates it’s just too far to travel.

Plan now and Enjoy the anticipation.

G’day Jeff, are you still going this year?  I am thinking about it.

    Will do.
Reports suggest there is little flow in the Ebor streams ATM. Can anyone confirm?

    Hello Tocs,

Its been ages since ive posted on Flylife and its good to be back.

The creeks are all low and getting lower each week, this is and will be totally different to the past 2 years as there is no signs at moment of storms as spring/ summer approaches .

Its incredibly dry from the mountains to the coast  , you can possible even expect total fire bans  so be prepared for that.

The local hatchery can allways keep you posted regarding conditions

    Cheers Peter

Does it look like we can expect fires? We need to be prepared.
