micmac3701ParticipantIs it just me and my hopelessly romantic nature, or is this shaping up to be a real cracker of a season?
Creeks and aquifers are all charged and refreshed, good hatches are coming off (best I’ve seen in awhile) and I have seen some of the largest, fattest fish over the last few weeks that I’ve seen in many a season. (Their indifference to my attempts to fool them is another matter).
Signs and portents say that little Spanish girl is bringing an epic season with her to the NE Vic.

oldpiscatorParticipantIt is certainly a great start to the spring dun hatch in the Ballarat region. Heaviest hatch I have ever seen last Friday and fish making the most of it.

jimmyellenbergerParticipantIf the condition of the critters being landed at Little Pine are any indication it is going to be the year of the breakoff right across the highlands. The rivers are all still blown out and just beginning to settle a bit but they will be holding good flows for a good while. Plenty of good soaking rain topping up the basalt and limestone territories, and thats always promising.
There have been good strong hatches down in the lower elevations so far. It is about time to start heading uphill me thinks…
Cheers…Jimmy

chfParticipantIt is pretty great to see how everything has bounced back this spring , isn’t nature just awesome ? , and I cant wait til the ring of steel comes down and we can get on the water again …so in the meantime stay strong everyone and keep dreaming . Or look for one of those metro lakes that were stocked in June or September , no hatches I guess but everyone should have one within their 25k .
Please post some pics too of said heavy hatches and fattest fish so we can live vicariously for a little longer!

woody-woodParticipantNE Vic streams are a bit high with all this rain we have been getting recently but there are plenty of fish around.
No issues bumping into other anglers on the water or seeing cars at access points. Can we keep the ring of steel up until May 2021. It is like it used to be in the late seventies/early eighties with not may anglers around.
I sympathise with those in lockdown, but it sure is nice on the water up here atm with limited pressure.

jimmyellenbergerParticipantOops… sorrrrrry Fitz. I temporarily forgot some of you characters are still on the unfortunate side of the steel ring.
On a brighter note, who would have ever expected the OP to become a leading fashion model? Amazing taste in the most trendy apparel and a freakin ripper of a stockie in his mitts! Lagavulin for breakfast… thats us.
I am going to print that photo, even though jealousy is apparently a sin.
Cheers Jimmy
P.S. free travel voucher to Fitz if he finds me, think limestone…

FitzParticipantClose to cracking but the tunnel is nearly complete. The 25km travel radius is making it easier to spread the spoil.
