    Hi Everyone

I’m looking for a fly line for Hardy Zephrus 5wt, I googled online, some shops are suggesting half size heavy lines like MPX or Infinity ,but others are saying even Rio Gold is too heavy for this rods !

Does anyone actually experienced these fly lines on Zephrus and can suggest me if I  need to get a true to weight lines like SA Trout or Orvis Hydros or heavy ones like Infinity or MPX ?

I’m just getting used to a Zephrus 8’6″ 4wt. I found rio gold worked from about 20′ out. A true to weight 5wt line was better at turning over the leader in close (I didn’t have a a 4wt rio grand or SA equivalent). So I’ll bee keen to try the half weight heavier. Not exactly what you’re after but may help.

I have a 6wt Zephrus and regularly fish a SA GPX or a Barrio SLX on it. Both lines load the rod really well. Not sure why someone would say that a 6wt Rio Gold is too heavy. Honestly, all those lines would be fine. I think it comes down to the caster 🙂
