Species Talk A Spider ate my fly !

    Yup , it really happened .

    A new species for me , so it goes here in Species talk .

    Backcast into a bush & got stuck . Climbed onto the bank to pull it free by hand and found a Daddy Long Legs wrapped around my brown nymph , and it didn’t want to let go even when I poked it with a twig !

    No idea what it weighed , might have topped a gram …

    I had a big dragonfly scruff a parachute adams mid-air/ mid-cast a few years ago on the Liffey.  It took me a while to figure out why the fly didnt splash down.

    I played it for a bit… then remembered I had a mate somewhere on the stream. Fortunately around the bend upstream…. rather than simply around the bend like the tool downstream.

    All you needed was a trout to swallow the spider to catch the fly.
