Northern Suburbs Fly Fishing Club is really pleased to be able to host Mayfly Tackle and Scientific Angler on the 26 Jul. Details and names are still be finalised with Andrew Summers of Mayfly but at the moment we are looking to have a bit of a talk by the Scientific Angler Flyline Engineer and International Sales Manger and then we’ll hit the casting pool. Plan is for you to bring your rod along and cast a number of different lines. As usual, we’ll put up one of our world famous snags in bread and a cold or hot drink and if you’re really nice we might even light the fire.

    Further details to follow.

    The official Bulletin
Scientific Anglers who designed the first modern plastic-coated fly line way back in 1952 are sending their international sales manager Jeff Pierce along with their chief research and development engineer Andrew Bosway to visit down under.
Jeff mentioned the importance of the Australian market and its long term support of Scientific Anglers. "We want to meet the Australian people who have made Scientific Anglers the world leaders they are today and educate them on the current technologies that our products offer. We cannot wait to visit and may have a few surprises concerning some prototype lines for people to actually cast on their own rods."

The day will involve a talk on the Science behind Scientific Anglers range of fly lines and how these technologies can assist fly anglers with better catch rates. This will be followed by a BBQ lunch put on by the Northern Suburbs Fly fishing Club. After lunch Scientific Anglers will have a range of reels/lines that attending participants can put through their own rods to try before you buy. Jeff and Andrew will be available to chat to throughout the day.

    Date: Sunday 26th July 2015
Location: Northern Suburbs Fly Fishing Club, Yarrambat Park Yan Yean Road, Yarrambat VIC 3091 Melways reference 184 F4
    Time: 10am thru 3pm
BBQ Lunch: Sausages, bread and soft drinks (GOLD COIN DONATION)

What to bring: Bring along your fly rods to cast a range of Scientific Anglers lines through them.

Northern Suburbs Fly Fishing Club will be holding a raffle on the day so bring some gold coins for your chance to win some magnificent prizes from Scientific Anglers.

Can you please let the secretary know of your plans to attend on the day for catering purposes.

Getting close guys. Hoping the weather holds out for us. šŸ˜‰

Well a sturdy 30 odd turned up to an excellent presentation from Andrew Bosway on their new designs and then went on to impress us with the new SA line and equipment releases. Sales rep Geoff then gave us some insight into release dates and price points. Over a quick snag in bread we discussed all the important topics and then it was off to the casting pool to try out the as yet unreleased lines and were we impressed.

Everybody had smiles on their faces as some these lines just lifted the casting to new levels. How good, well I was regularly getting 60′ out of my 7wt cane rod casting into a 40 kph wind.

If you didn’t make it, you might want to track on down to The Flyfisher tonight and hear the talk but I think you missed the best of the casting.

Thanks to Scientific Angler and Mayfly Tackle for the great donations for the raffle (who was that masked man that had his name drawn twice by his mates sons?) and the chance to play with these lines before their release in Australia.
