Fishing
Early and late in the season when the river is high and flowing cold it provides anglers with very good nymph fishing. Once the water warms and there is more insect activity, this river becomes one of the best dry fisheries in the state. The river is generally shallow and has a nice pace of water to it, so dry fly fishing blind is a great way to approach this stream. When the paddocks in the lower section dry off over summer, the hoppers will be pushed to rivers edge where the trout will be waiting, this means fishing a hopper blind up the lower section of the Toorongo from late January onwards is also a great option.
Access
This river has some very good public access, there is bridge access along the Toorongo Valley Road and through the campgrounds below the Toorongo Falls. Please be mindful of the private properties along this river and only access it via bridges or public access. Once you are in the river you can fish your way up at your leisure.
