Fishing
The Steavenson River fishes very well all season long. You get a lovely mix of fishing throughout the season, the combination of rainbow and brown trout means you get fish holding in lots of different water types. Early in the season the river is high and clear and is perfect for nymphing, as the river height falls and the water warms the fish start looking to feed on dries. There is a wide range of insect activity you can expect to encounter on this river, so be prepared for anything. Mayfly and caddis hatches are most common, but you will also get ant and beetle falls, midge, grasshoppers and more.
Access
There is great access for this river all the way from Marysville, to where it flows into the Acheron River in Buxton. There is good angler access and great fishing at all of the road bridges on the Buxton-Marysville Rd (C508).
