Fishing

A good mix of insects hatch throughout the season including midge, caddis and mayfly. Spring and Autumn are the times to experience some form of hatch as the water and air temperatures are at their best. Over summer there can be some entertaining mudeye fishing in low light and at night, and through winter the trout hone in on smelt and baitfish. With the wide range of food sources available for the trout, a range of techniques are useful on Lake Wendouree. Fishing with streamers and wet flies are very productive all season long when mayfly are around in Spring and Autumn the fish really look for them so fishing dries and nymphs during these months are the way to go. Over summer fishing the edges with mudeye patterns are productive as is searching around with nymphs and dries.
