Fishing

There is the potential for very good mayfly hatches in Spring and Autumn on Lake Fyans. You can expect to see hatches of midge and caddis throughout the season in calm conditions. Over winter the trout feed on the Australian smelt and other small baitfish in the lake including perch fry providing exciting sight fishing. Through summer there are good evening rises, and trout feeding on mudeyes at night as they migrate to timber and reeds to climb out of the water before emerging as dragonfly. When travelling to Lake Fyans it is important to be prepared to fish dries, nymphs or wet flies and streamers as there is the potential for all of these though out the season. Searching with nymphs, wets and small streamers is the most reliable way to catch fish when there are no actively feeding fish to be seen.

Access

There is very good access all along the entire shoreline of Lake Fyans, Kelleys Beach Road and Mokepilly Road also wrap around the lake. If you are fishing from a boat, the ramp is located at the Lake Fyans Holiday Park on the south eastern shore.
