Fishing
Due to its size and general depth, the Erskine River lends itself to dry fly fishing from the beginning of the season until the end. It can be overgrown in some sections, keeping it simple and fishing with a single dry or a lightly weight nymph beneath a dry is the way to go. Fish tend to be very opportunistic and will respond well to any of your favourite river patterns. Although the Otways is the highest rainfall region in Victoria, rivers like the Erskine still get quite low and warm in late summer. During these periods fish can be very spooky or tough to catch holding in the deeper pockets and pools. If it gets too low, looking at some of the larger rivers in the Otways is probably a better option.
Access
There is a great walking track that follows the river from Lorne at the mouth of the river to the falls. Good fishing can be had the whole way up the river.
