Fishing

The trout fishing in Blue Rock is very consistent from autumn through until spring, there are plenty of fish along the shorelines, and fishing for them with streamers and wet flies is the best approach. There are also occasional falls of terrestrials such as beetles and ants through summer. In still conditions, you can often experience a good hatch of midge and on a warm evening there is plenty of insect activity and rising fish can be targeted with dries and small wet flies.

Over summer the bass fishing is very enjoyable, fishing topwater flies in the morning and evenings along rocky shorelines, over weed beds and through timbered areas is very productive. During the middle of the day the fish move deeper and targeting them on streamers is the best way to catch them.

Access

There is good access to the many shorelines by road. There are also two main boat ramps, one is located near the town of Willow Grove and the other is located by the dam wall.
