Acheron River

Unlike most other streams in the Goulburn system, the Acheron doesn't really conform to the blueprint of a classic trout stream for fly fishing. There are relatively few rock or gravel runs and rapids, the water is usually somewhat discoloured, and the silty bed is often snag-infested. Nevertheless the river carries a good head of trout - browns and rainbows - throughout its length, and some grow to a nice size for stream fish. The flow is very reliable and mostly cool.
