Fishing
This river is fishable all season long, however it can be slow in the early months of the season. To consistently catch fish through spring anglers will need to fish nymphs well as the dry fly fishing is limited. From November onwards the river fishes consistently well and the dry fly fishing from January until the season ends is some of the best in the state. Throughout the season you can experience a mix of insects hatching or falling such as caddis, midge, mayfly, beetles, ants and grasshoppers making for diverse and interesting fishing. The river also fishes well through the warmer months for nymph fishermen or those swinging smaller wet flies.
Access
There is plenty of angler access for this river made available by the Inland Fisheries Service Tasmania. There are walking tracks that give access to the sections of water below the dam and there is plenty of access via the many bridges such as the Meander town, Cheshunt Road and Long Ridge Road bridges.
