Fishing

The lake supports healthy populations of both brown and rainbow trout, with fish frequently reaching 3–6 lb. Early in the season (August to November), fishing is highly productive, with active fish feeding on mayfly and caenid hatches, particularly in the shallows. Dry fly fishing can be exceptional during dun and red spinner falls, while nymphs and woolly worms are reliable before the main hatches. As the season progresses into summer and water temperatures rise, weed growth increases, making fishing more challenging, especially from the shore. Streamers and mudeye imitations fished from boats remain effective around deeper margins and weed pockets. The lake’s trout are strong, opportunistic feeders, and often respond aggressively when conditions align.

Access

Access to Four Springs Lake is excellent, with a maintained boat ramp and a walking track encircling much of the shoreline. Vehicle access is available to designated parking areas, and several clearings allow for shoreline casting. Wading is possible, but anglers should be cautious due to sudden depth changes, soft margins, and underwater weed beds. Boat-based anglers have the advantage of reaching deeper channels and weed edges that are harder to target on foot. This lake is a popular early-season destination when higher altitude lakes may still be closed or slow to fire up.
