Overview

We offer river-front luxury log cabins, with world renowned fly fishing Guides at our specialty brown trout fly fishing luxury lodge. River Haven cabins are fully equipped for self-catering. Don’t forget to stop in the River Haven private Bar after fishing for a cold drink and great bar snacks, as well.

Fishing & Guiding

Only three minutes from Murchison and located in Kahurangi National Park, River Haven Lodge is centrally located in the Top of the South Island of New Zealand, giving you access to over thirty rivers by car and another twenty rivers by helicopter. River Haven Lodge has access for any of the four helicopter companies we work with, to land only steps from your cabin, to fly into this world class trout fishery.

Our Guides are  experienced in sighting brown trout, as though they had a type of radar connection with the fish themselves! They tie their own flies giving you an edge. Tying flies to match the exact insect stage, is where our Guides shine! You can be assured, River Haven Guides are among the friendliest and most patient, in the country, and they are all non-smokers.

Accommodation & Dining

Scotty and his lovely wife Leya, own property on the Mangles River bank, and have built “River Haven Lodge” to accommodate those with the same passion for fly fishing. When you stay at River Haven Lodge, all your gear, your cabin, even the house wine and beer are included! Enjoy your meals in your well-appointed cabin, including our full kitchens for self-catering. Of course your lunch is included with your guide, to include sandwiches made from home-made bread, and plenty of snacks to keep you going throughout the day! Return back to the lodge for some fun bar snacks. Cabins have full kitchens with everything you need including, microwave, coffee plunger, refrigerator, jug, toaster, cooking hob, pots and pans, and dishes.

Activities

Centrally located in Kahurangi National Park, there are activities for everyone. River Haven Lodge is ideally located to take advantage of the many “non-fishing” things to do in Murchison, Kahurangi National park the greater Nelson / Marlborough area.

Choose between relaxing activities such as photography, bird watching and swimming, or “amp it up” with a Helicopter Tour, or some white water kayaking or jet boating. There are some of the most accessible, beautiful hikes under a hour from the lodge, you don’t want to miss…including one with an amazing waterfall, only 30 minutes away!
