Fly Fishing - South Island, New Zealand
Overview
DARK SKY has soul. The snow and glaciers of New Zealand’s highest peaks spawn hundreds of gushing streams, rivers and lakes across a landscape that’s silence is as large as the region is vast.
It’s a place shaped by glaciers, by folklore, and by human endeavour, it is also a place of staggering natural beauty, a place where 12,000ft peaks rise at your feet while ancient rivers of blue ice carve their way down valleys creating deep azure-colored lakes… some of New Zealand’s greatest natural wonders lie here.

Fishing & Guiding
DARK SKY is at the centre of Stravon’s angling operations in the South Island and is the ideal location to explore trout fishing in all its forms. From rugged white water mountain streams where rainbow trout rule to sublime spring creek upstream dry fly waters where big browns rise all day long, this is a place where alluvial freestone rivers, mountain streams, spring creeks and lake delta all come together.

Accommodation & Dining
Two options are available, first up is Headquarters, Stravon’s lodge nestled 3,500ft above sea level in The Hunters Hills which is a 10min flight (or 30mins via Aoraki/Mount Cook) from Dark Sky.
